Soul Man, born Suleman Ali Shah on July 16, 1988, in Sha Tin, Hong Kong, is a British-Dutch music producer, electro-organic artist, rapper, and entrepreneur whose creative identity bridges cultures, musical traditions, and independent expression.

Raised in Hong Kong, Soul Man developed an early connection to music through his family. Learning the art of mixing from his uncles, including two close relatives who perform as DJs, he grew up surrounded by the sounds and techniques that would eventually shape his musical direction.

At just 12 years old, Soul Man began playing bass guitar and performing with rock bands at school events and local community programmes. His musical education expanded through community training centres across Hong Kong’s New Territories and Legazpi City in the Philippines, where he explored different instruments and developed a broader appreciation for music. By the age of 15, he was already writing lyrics for his community rock band, beginning a songwriting journey that has since produced more than 100 unreleased lyrical works.

As a music producer, electro-organic artist, and rapper, Soul Man brings together his diverse influences and life experiences to explore his own creative identity. His journey reflects a connection between live musicianship, DJ culture, songwriting, and modern music production, with a background shaped by international experiences and an independent spirit.

In 2018, following political and economic uncertainty in Hong Kong, Soul Man relocated to Amsterdam, Netherlands, beginning a new chapter in his personal and creative life. He currently lives and works from his property in Wehl, in the eastern Netherlands, continuing to develop his musical and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Beyond music, Soul Man has spent much of his working life in hospitality, working as a bartender and cook. His professional education includes diplomas in bar management, drink mixology, public relations, project management, and hotel management. He is also an entrepreneur and selling partner on bol.com, serving customers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
